How to Become Successful with Affiliate Marketing
Affiliate marketing can be a very rewarding side hustle. I have seen a lot of bloggers that were able to quit their 9-5 full time corporate jobs because they have done so well with affiliate marketing. They were able to replace their income and then some. Being a successful affiliate marketer is not a position that is easy, nor happens over night.
5 qualities you need to have to become successful with affiliate marketing
Willingness to learn and be trained
By now you understand that the gist of affiliate marketing is sharing your specific link, a customer making a purchase from that link and you get a commission. If you are reading this, then you more than likely understand that it’s just not as simple as posting your link and people buying. It is a bit more in depth than that. To put it bluntly, you can’t just sell. That is one main mistake I learned when I first started. At first my blog posts were uninformed sales pitches. I learned quickly that I needed to get very clear on what my brand is, and who my target market is. Once I learned how to relate to and serve them, the money followed.
Willing to invest time and effort
You definitely need to have a lot of patience. Success from affiliate marketing does not happen overnight. You need to be very consistent with your strategies in marketing. It is also easy to get burnt out in your efforts. Using scheduling tools is a huge help.
You will quickly realize that your friends, and even your family, won’t grasp the concept of making money that doesn't have to do with a 9-5 regular job. You will more than likely be your own self motivator. Yes absolutely it will hurt, but try not to take it too personal. Most people are very comfortable with working mundane 9-5 jobs. A lot of people need that type of structure to feel purpose. People like us think differently and that is completely OK!
Along with being your own self motivator, you will need to have discipline. Create your own schedule that you can work around and stick to it. Think of the people that own companies. You don’t want to be the person that is building their dreams. You want to be the person that is building YOUR dreams. That takes discipline. If you don’t accept that you are going to have to do the things that you don’t like to do, then affiliate marketing, or even working for yourself, is not the route you need to be going.
There will be without a doubt, many, many days that you will get down on yourself and want to give up. Go through those days and feel every bit of pain. Get to the other side and pick your self up and go. You can not wallow in it. And you definitely can not let the negative overwhelm you or you will not get anywhere.
